Open Tryouts: Lows and Highs
This is Sara Sloan, Global Media sports correspondent for the Superheroine Battle Arena. Last week the announcement was made that the SBA would be holding open tryouts for any super-powered women seeking to join the league. The initial results were somewhat disappointing according to the selection committee. Many women were weeded out in the initial screening because they had no super powers at all. In one heated exchange, one of the staff members had to explain that being able to bench press one hundred pounds and having a yellow belt in judo does not qualify you to be a superheroine.
Of the applicants that managed to make it through the initial screening – most of whom would barely qualify to enter the league in the Featherweight power class – they proved that it takes much more than enhanced strength and a skimpy outfit to call oneself a superheroine. The following video shows the dismal performance of most of the hopeful contenders, when fighting against a scaled down model of the SBA SparBots.
However, within the shameful tragedy that was the SBA Open Tryouts was one shining star. “Vicious” Valerie DeVille, aka The Dark Dominatrix made a surprise stop in Metrocity. It was unclear at first whether she was visiting as a spectator, but she made a dramatic entrance into the ring and had a very impressive performance against the SparBot. Watch her in this clip and ask yourself, is the Dark Dominatrix a fit for the Superheroine Battle League.
