In the early days of the Superheroine Battle League there were two problems. The first had to do with film quality. It was not an easy feat getting camera crews close enough to the action. Sometimes equipment was destroyed by shockwaves or flying debris. In the second battle between Lady Steel and Hell Kitty, most of the footage was of buildings being destroyed, distant booms, and the occasional blur rushing by in the distance.

The second which was a much more troubling concern was the number of fans that would show up live to watch a bout. Despite a safety cordon around the area, there were injuries from explosions and sonic booms.

Doctor Mukta Sanji was the savior that brought us the Superheroine Battle Arena.

Dr. Sanji is a brilliant mechanical engineer and theoretical physicist who developed a nearly indestructible metal alloy called Inertrium. As a young scientist she built a suit of powered Inertrium armor and had a short career as the super villainess Techtronica. A short while later she repurposed her armor and operated as a heroine under the name Guardianna. She later retired from the superhero scene and became a successful scientist and researcher.

Also, as an open lesbian she was a huge endorser and fan of superheroine battles.

She developed the Graviton Compression field as a means to contain the enormous amount of energy generated by a superheroine brawl. The field causes gravity to fluctuate and strengthen in order to compensate for extreme velocities. This had several effects: It prevented solid punches from knocking back their target several blocks or miles, it kept flying heroes from staying airborne for longer than a short burst, and for those with superhuman speed it slowed them down enough for their movements to be captured by the human eye.

She also created the SparBots. Durable robots made of Inertrium using the same technology that went into her Techtronica and Guardianna armor. These robots are designed to withstand a sustained beating even from a heroine in the super heavyweight class. These sparring robots give the superheroines opponents to train against, without risking injury to others. Each SparBot is equipped with a primitive AI to allow it to fight back at least a little bit to at least present the illusion of a threat.

Combine one ring made of multiple layers of Inertrium, “ropes” made of coherent force beams, and contain the entire area in a Graviton Compression field and you have the Superheroine Battle Arena. A place where fanboys can watch a super-powered catfight from the safety and comfort of stadium seating.
