Ms. Blitzen and SilverStar are part of the Dynamic Five, a superheroine team operating out of Angel Falls (the shared world roleplaying setting over on Deviant Arts where I was recruiting superheroine OCs from). Whenever I borrow someone else’s OC, I will always read through their background and some of their stories to try to get a sense of the characters. Then each part I’ll share with the creator before posting to make sure that I’m not totally botching their character’s personality.
Emily and Sarah were a lot of fun to use. Ms. Blitzen in her story, as written by Knight3000, recently underwent a change where she accidentally acquired super strength which made her a great prospect for the arena. And when designing her fighting moves I tried to make her look like… well like she fights like someone who never got into many fights and isn’t used to being strong. That’s why she slaps and has that awkward downward punch. Whereas SilverStar grew up as a tomboy so she fights more like a boy, used to roughhousing, more moves that take advantage of her size. I probably put more work into developing these fights than most people realize. Ms. Blitzen changing her hair color constantly? Well, her hair actually changes a lot in the artwork on her Deviant Art page, although I think a big part of that may be because their are a lot of different artists that have submitted work for her. But I thought that would be an interesting character quirk to dye her hair before each match.
Since Emily is a princess of Atlantis, and since Siren is a princess of Lemuria, it made sense that she would be her rival in the arena. Add in some racial tension, some out-of-ring brawls, then introduce a shape-shifting assassin… and the story practically writes itself. Assassin stopped, global undersea world war averted, peace between the heads of state. All ends well.
But stick around. Ms. Blitzen and SilverStar are actually not heading back home to Angel Falls just yet. They will be making a brief guest appearance in the next story arc, The Phantom (starring Invincibelle).
These are the art pieces that the in-ring characters were based on.
