Superheroine Battle Arena – Locker Room C
“That was so much fun that was so exciting this was the best idea ever! Emily you rule!” Sarah was in the locker room, still exuberant after their victory over the SparBots. “I especially love that ‘Squueee!’ noise they make when they’re defeated…” Sarah finally noticed Emily staring at the ground. “Hey, what gives, Em?”
Emily looked up, “Sorry, I was just…”
“What happened?” Sarah knelt in front of Emily who was sitting on a bench. “The crowd was so noisy I couldn’t hear what that blue woman was saying to you. Why was she in your face like that?”
“She’s Lemurian… and she, well…” Emily looked at Sarah kneeling in front of her, suddenly remembered that she was the older one supposed to be looking out for her counterpart. She sighed and stated matter-of-factly, “She hates me because I’m an Atlantean.”
“Seriously? Is this a racial thing?”
“Not entirely. There’s always been animosity between our peoples. But recently, when Atlantis was raised… There were consequences that the people on the surface were never aware of.”
Sarah kept looking at her, waiting for her to continue. Emily sighed again.
“The tidal wave that formed when the city was raised. We stopped it from hitting the coast… on the surface. But most of the power from a tsunami travels along the ocean floor. Lemuria was hit hard. Millions of people were killed. That made them hate Atlanteans even more.”
“Wow.” Sarah muttered. “I never knew.”
“They probably would have gone to war with us immediately. Except they were so badly devastated they couldn’t mount an offensive. It was really, really bad.” Emily stared at the ground again.
“Does she blame you? Does she think your family–?”
“Shh!” Emily cut her off. “I don’t think she even knows my lineage. We can’t let her know about my family or she might try to murder me. For real!”
Sarah got off the floor and sat next to Emily, putting one of her huge, muscled arms around her. “She won’t murder you. I’ll protect you.” She gently rocked her back and forth.
Office of Commissioner X
Charles looked over some of the files on the two newest contestants to the Arena. He dictated to his computer some notes. “Ms. Blitzen, presses about 25 tons. Puts her at the lower end of the Heavyweight power class. Marginal fighting skill. SilverStar, handles herself better, also presses 75 tons. Adding a new Superheavyweight to the roster.”
Siren charged into his office. “The new girl. The bimbo in purple. I want her.”
Commissioner X looked up. He had never actually seen Siren angry before. She always seemed so regal, so serene. But right now she had a look in her eyes that made him uneasy. “You mean Ms. Blitzen?”
“I don’t care what her name is. Arrange. The. Fight.” She stared at him for several seconds until he finally half nodded. She wheeled around and left his office. He waited about ten seconds then paged for his assistant.
“Hey, Smith. Find out what you can about those two newcomers from Angel Falls. Does Ms. Blitzen have history with Siren?”
