“That’s your plan?” scoffed Invincibelle. “Punch everyone here?”
“Well it sounds stupid when you say it that way.” countered Dr. Ivankov.
Mary Porter chimed in over the speaker, “Look, Eva, we’ve been cross-referencing any mention of this parasite in every database on earth and beyond. Some of our sources are little more than alien mythology and folklore. But there is a common thread. That certain bio-electric patterns are anathema to the creature and we’re thinking the invincibelle energy is one of them.”
“How sure are you of that?” asked Eva.
“…About… 60%?”
“Give or take 17%!”
Eva sighed. “What about clues for what I’m even looking for. This thing lives in a host, right? is it like an earwig or an ooze?”
“Still no idea on that.” said Mary. “Even the infected aliens that have survived contact with it never even saw it.”
“However!” cried Ivankov, “there should be symptoms! Weakness. Pain in the joints and muscles. Fatigue as it saps life energy. The rate of decay we cannot accurately gauge though. It depends greatly on the age of the leech, which we do not know.”
“Great.” Eva sighed again. “I’ll keep an eye out for the sick and weak so I can punch them in the head.”
“Well it sounds… distasteful when you say it that way.”
“It has to be a significant hit, also, not just a love tap.” stated Mary. “Hard enough to penetrate the natural defense of the host and disrupt the bio-aura of the leech.”
“Ok… and how hard is that?”
“Hard enough that you would be able to feel it through your force field.”
“What?” yelled Invincibelle. “That’s hard enough to kill a normal person!”
“Then just punch superheroines, Invincibelle!” exclaimed Ivankov. “Do I need to think of everything for you?”
Invincibelle huffed. “Well I think I know where to start, anyway.”
“Really, where is that?” asked Mary.
“Lucky Star. She’s a wrestler that hasn’t had a match for almost two months. Supposedly coming off an injury, but maybe that’s just a cover for she’s being consumed from the inside by an alien space leech.”
